Best Meal Ever, or at least part of it…

How I love food. Oh my god, everything about it is wonderful. For Valentine’s Day I told my love not to worry about gifts, flowers, etc. – he was taking me out to eat food and that was more than enough. I have many foodporn experiences that I recall during more mundane meals, but the one that stands out the most was a dinner that was cooked at a friend’s house when I lived in San Diego about 5 years ago. I’m fortunate enough to have close friends who are cooks, chefs and culinary geniuses. On a whim we had an impromptu dinner party with 4 or 5 of us that consisted of oil-brushed, grilled, asparagus, choice cuts of steak and scallops that were to be grilled to perfection.

Seared Scallops

What I remember most about this dinner was actually before dinner. My chef friend, Aaron, had sliced some raw sea scallops into thin pieces for us all to taste before being cooked. I. Was. Blown. Away! They melted in my mouth while the simple, yet distinct flavor actually made me close my eyes to enjoy more. I’ll never forget that moment.
